Rescued and Rebuilt
This home, on more than an acre within walking distance to historic downtown Mooresville, NC, was on the brink of being bulldozed for multifamily units. A 1928 farmhouse north of Charlotte, NC had good bones, but not much more. With a combination of extensive termite damage and no updates in more than 65 years, we had the opportunity to remove all interior walls and reimagine every space. Items that could be salvaged, were cleaned and reused. All of the original six-panel doors were trimmed to fit the new openings, brick from the original, deteriorated chimney was unstacked by hand, cleaned, and rebuilt behind a wood burning fireplace, and a double drainboard sink was cleaned and installed into new butcher block countertops. With just under 2,000 square feet, it is now a 3-bedroom family home with both modern amenities and historic details.
The end result is a traditional Craftsman exterior, bright and airy rooms, a spacious and well functioning kitchen, and architectural details executed precisely to make every space feel original and authentic.
